In 2003 Tim Arnold had come to a
turning point in his career. After the near success of his first band
'Jocasta' ended abruptly without explanation, a stint in theatre
composing that only lasted a year and a publishing deal with Branson's
V2 label which yielded little result, Arnold began to see that his long
life ambition to create the catalogue of his work was not being
realised. ![]() In the summer of 2003, Tim Arnold flew to Thamkrabok Monastery in Thailand to undergo a physical and spiritual detox. Within a matter of days, Buddhist monks had begun to teach him new ways of making music by using patterns in nature. The abbot of the monastery recognised that Arnold was suffering from a condition common to most artists: his music was simply not being heard. The monks set about building Arnold a studio and gave him a second home so that he would never feel constrained by the music industry. The result was 'Lokutara'. The album was recorded entirely in the monastery and produced by Tristin Norwell (Embrace, Talvin Singh, Neneh Cherry). Originally released in 2004 on Norwell and Arnold's label 'Sajja Records', the album's only single 'Walking Through Walls' received considerable airplay in the UK. There was much press coverage about the record and the extraordinary circumstances of its creation, but mainly, it returned Arnold back to his true vocation... as a recording artist. Tracklisting: 1.
